yes, so far only normal maps will be supported...

is lightwave the only soft that make possible displacement map with maxwell?

No, neither lightwave nor any other soft will make displacement maps work with Maxwell 1.0 (unless there is a big surprise when it's out). And LW doesn't even support subpixel displacement (though I think it will with upcoming version _ not sure).
