since you need to first render the whole image, and then mark the area you want to render... why change all the rest to black? it's confusing, esp. if you need to render region another place (and then you need to restart the whole image....). just keep it in the SL it got, and refresh the region....even for display only.

And upon that it would be very nice to be able to mark the region in the fire-viewport in studio. Because I work alot with MW references it's hard to select the exact region (parts).

come to think of it, why not have "multi-region" render. so I can pick a few places with a fence at once....
