try using the sun at night. maxwell thinks it's below ground level. and at noon sometimes I have to place a biiiig plane to act as ground that blocks too much light from around. so how about an option to tell maxwell where is ground level and it will understand not to calculate anything below it?

try using the sun at night.
If you just want to use the Sun as a big emitter, place it where you want using angle settings instead of time, then with ML turn off the Sky to just have the Sun.

I do it a lot, however sometimes the most realistic effect is achieved with the longitude/latitude system and the difference between impressive and junk can be less than a minute on the clock

just because the sun is from down under ...
