drag and drop of material components between two materials

It would be nice if it would be possible to simply drag various (all) components of a material like layers, BSDFs, textures, procedurals, etc. to another opened MXED instance.

And... PLEASE!!!! bring back the functionality of the v2 material editor where you weren't forced to close the texture/colour picker window after every change and it could simply stay opened!!! :roll:

I do all my material work in MW2, and move over to mw3 afterwards, just to avoid that dialogue torture... MUST BE FIXED :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

Hello numerobis,

Having the color picker this way is the only way to make it compatible with the new Procedurals tree, that in the end will need to have more than one dialog available at the same time (the procedural panel itself and its color picker).

So this is the only way it can be done to allow the user full functionality and full access to all the dialogs he/she may need at any time. The pros (basically having the Procedurals tree) are definitely more than the cons.
Basically it is not something that can be "fixed" but something done this way to allocate more functionalities in the same dialogs structure.

Regards

Dario Lanza

Dario, I've already suggested a fix for this (based on my limited knowledge). I'll mention it again;

You can branch the map/procedural choice one step earlier, at the map icon, and then theres no need to change (break) the way mxed used to work. Putting the branch there wouldn't affect the workflow.

I feel like you guys dont spend enough time using your own software, the way it is now is just wrong, and this is important! Please please fix this.

Thankyou.

Also, AFAIK the procedurals are not working (severe tiling problem) so there is no pro. Plus the procedurals are very basic at the moment, kind of beta procedurals. Plus for me personally procedurals,.... even excellent ones like Steve Worley made back in the day... are very rarely justified, in my personal 20yrs plus 3D experience.

Thanks again, sorry ranting, you know me...

Juan already mentioned this http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 35&t=41572

Wouldn't it be possible to split it? The procedural dialog is located in the texture window. When the procedural dialog needs to be a closed thing, why does the normal texture window has to be treated the same?

Here I meant that there would be need to be two map icons in mxed, the regular one, and a procedural icon next to it.
