Hi there,
I did not see this in the v3 presentation. But is there or will there be way to change the units from metric to imperial for studio and the material editor?
Thanks
Aaron

No, there isn't and if it was up to me, hopefully there won't be, and I pray the whole world moves to metric

That does not do me and my work flow any due service. Every program I own has an option to switch between metric and imperial, well except one.

looks like it would not be "physical correct"

I can say for certain that America will never adopt Metric -- if it was going to happen, it would have already.
So in saying that, I suppose you are saying that America does not fit into strategic sales planning for Maxwell? Or is this such an untenable feature that it is worth turning down money over?
Such a minor issue seems to be a rather foolish thing to take a hard line stance over (although quite typical) -- especially when your competitors will not be so belligerent. I mean we all know this may be one of the most frequently requested things for Maxwell ever... and has absolutely no bearing on Biased/Unbiased.
I am sure the other render engines are very happy, and hope and pray Maxwell never allows Imperial units... after all they get a competitive advantage, for doing practically nothing (well, unless you consider "not being stubborn" a feature).
Best,
Jason.

I have a "Geometric Scale" under general settings in ArchiCAD plugin... So it seems to me it would be easy having a switch from metric to imperial, no?
I always use metric but would be also asking for it if there would only be an imperial option!
Cheers!

I was really only talking about Studio and the material editor (which btw only has attenuation distance as a metric parameter). As mentioned Maxwell has no problem working with native applications in imperial/metric already
I just take every opportunity to mention what an incredibly stupid unit system imperial is

If NASA uses metric since the 50s......evolve.

I do use metric units when I work on projects that are out side of the USA. So, evolving is not the issue. 99% of my projects use imperial units.
One more thing...I have been using Maxwell since 2006. So, I have been using it as is. But it still be would be nice if I could use Studio and the material editor in a imperial unit mode.

I hope you're just being cheeky by saying "hopefully there won't be"? Not agreeing with imperial units is completely fine (it wouldn't bother me at all if we switched over to metric units here in the US) but, putting personal opinions aside, asking about the implementation of imperial seems to be a very valid request. If it's not added into Studio because not enough people are requesting, i can understand but discounting the request due to personal opinions of the software company seems a bit...well, odd.

Nothing odd about expressing a personal opinion I hope? Or should I always be wearing a suit and tie when commenting? I thought I 'covered' myself by starting with 'if it was up to me' and it would suffice as a disclaimer.
IF it was up to me, which it isn't, no I wouldn't dream of implementing support for imperial units and thus contributing to the stagnation that this archaic and stupid system represents. Shocking isn't it?
This is what I ment by evolution, in case the target of my comment was misunderstood which it seems it has.

Nothing wrong with your opinion at all Mihai! Your comments just came off a little like "we think imperial units are stupid, so who cares if customers want them", which sounded sorta harsh. No worries!

Here in the Deep South in America, our children are often born with 12 fingers and toes, so you can see how this might be confusing for us.

Or to quote Sheldon Cooper:
Ah. Blame President James “Jimmy” Carter. He started America on a path to the metric system but then just gave up. He wonders why he was a one-term president.
