Sample Multiplier controls

I can see that Maxwell favors simple controls but I have always wanted the option to optimize the settings for a scene. At the very least I think it would be useful to have the option to control the computation bias for various light sources, it would save a huge amount of time in rendering scenes where light size and position vary greatly.
Another useful feature would be to change the sampling distribution to benefit caustics or bokeh when needed. These effects appear at sl20+ when everything else is clean at 16 seems, surely many samples are wasted on already clean surfaces?
