Hi,
I would like to have an option to define SL for each pass.

Sounds like good idea to me.

Most of the passes are ok at SL8 while render is not.

I think that forcing all network computers to render the exact channels (unlike version 1) causes maxwell to create huge files when the other channels usually are noiseless at sl 8-9 like mentioned here. I think it's better to allow 1 computer to render all channels needed and others can render only the main render channel and still be able to merge MXI. +100

Hello arch3D,

Yes, it is true that this sounds nice, but the danger here is that using channels at different SL than the main render would end up with aliasing errors.
While you may see the channel is reasonably clean, if the SL is different, the aliasing in the edges could be different, causing you later problems on the edges.

But if this where not a problem in your project, the approach of launching the main render (that a longer SL) and launching another render with all the channels (to a lower SL) is the easiest way.

Dario,
thx for response. I think its not a problem in still images. But maybe some kind of menu e.g. press "render object id pass only" what will disable all unnecessary setting for this pass (caustic, color pass, e.g.)

This doesn't seem possible with network render though? If uncheck "Render" under the render channels tab but leave MatID checked, it still renders out an image with the MatID.
