NON OCCLUDING OBJECT

hi all,

it's possible to make an object "NON OCCLUDING" the lights but remaining visible and computing the GI?

i need to see it in the scene, i need it is in the computation of the GI but i need that the light of the sky could passing through.

Roy, you can do that by adding a ghost layer (100% weight, ND1, pure white trans, other chips black) to the emitter mxm, you dont need any render flags. look up 'invisible emitters' on the think site.

Eric, Roy is not asking for invisible emitters but for objects that do not cast shadows. I think.

You can not eat an apple and have an apple. If something have to let light through so it can not be used in GI computation.
It would be possible if meshes would be treated as "one side face" but maxwell automatically uses meshes as "two sided"

only possible way is to set this mesh hidden for GI and hoping reflection would do rest of tricks. You will not see self-shadowing, but in some scenarios maybe it will not be so harm
