Use renaming tool to remove characters from multiple objects

Renaming tool is great for adding characters to multiple objects/materials but it would be nice to be able to remove characters from the beginning/end. Small request I know!

Let me try and explain a bit better..
Let's say I have 4 materials called:
(M)Reflection01
(M)Reflection02
(M)Reflection03
(M)Reflection04
Highlight them all, right click, left click rename, then you can add characters to the start or end of the current names, however what I would like to be able to do is remove the first three characters (M) from each material in one go. So maybe as well as Suffix and Prefix options there could be a Remove option as well.. make sense?

ahh ok... in one go...? I don't think it's possible.... but one by one works.. are you exporting from Modo..?

Yes, exporting from modo
Just need to clean-up my workflow but thought it would be a nice addition to the existing prefix/suffix rename in maxwell.
