exclude from alpha

Pretty sure this has been asked before, but exclude from alpha for object properties would be huge. I could use it in Studio, and in the Max plugin. MatID's and ObjIDs can be used in many cases, but this is a very commonly used function all the same.

Wouldn't this just be 'matte' in the material properties or am I missing something?

No, I think matte will knock the object out of the image - I want it in the image, but not in the alpha.

And why would you want that?

sometimes I want to isolate an object to re-composite and the mat and object Id channels do not provide a clean alpha unless you set their colour to pure R,G, or B manually.

The way it seems to work now is that you have to render your scene to get the final output, then go back and set up the materials you want as matte materials then produce your seperate alpha channles then re-render. The way I wish the whole alpha/ matte operation worked is liked this. I wish you could just pick the toggle either on the layer or the material and have it render an alpha channel while you still get the final rendering output. Like how you get the background alpha with the final rendering output. Unless It changed in 2.6.
I also wish you could render the alpha background but also still get the Maxwell sky in a separate channel as well. All in the same render.
