Start network rendering using command line ONLY

We need full control of the render queue using the command line.

In practise we need to set flags to the command: mxnetwork -monitor -addjob:
such that the command doesn't just add the job to the queue but executes it as well.

Currently you can do the following using command line:

1. Start Network Manager
2. Start Render Node
3. Start Manager
4. Bind everything together......great.......but....

But you can't actually start a render job !!
You HAVE TO launch the Add-Job GUI wizard to start the job (mxnetwork -monitor -addjob:)

This command is useless in a Linux based network if the server that runs the manager does not have a display.
(e.g an off-site render farm)

Because in this situation Maxwell MUST run under the virtual frame buffer.

Thanks

The "we can" part is just fine and dandy, just waiting for "we will" part ;)

Hi Aji

Forget about the command-line wish..

When I followed your link I got:
You are not authorised to read this forum

What??
What a revelation !!
So there's a secret forum within the forum that a few select have access to?

Come on Aji...spill the beans..
I won't tell anyone that YOU told me about the Maxwell secret cult

lol there is no secret, my bad.
It's just that I made the same suggestion in that post as you did in this, that is all.
It's an old post from beta times, it's an old post from about 2 years ago so everything is unrevealed so no beans... unless you like to read about this bean
http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 48&t=32810 :)

one solution is to make your own "manager" to render each job separately on each computer and use mximerge.exe to merge the jobs
or
wait until nextlimit puts a silent, non gui, -addjob switch or a -script switch ....or both -addjob and -script switches :)

Do you know what...
I suspect they want/are pressured to keep it that way..

Can't explain myself any further..
...otherwise their online render-farm friends
might send someone to beat me up...

But on a positive note two of the farms have dropped their fees significantly last week...
If they keep it that way then it's actually cost effective to render through them
rather than be tempted to setup your own cloud-based r....
...ooops!...please ignore that.... that was a slip of the keyboard..
