Vector displacement support

This would really benefit for detailing environments etc. Just saying

Displacement makes fire useless (too slow) and it takes forever to render.
Will vector displacement be faster? And what would this mean exactly?
(Sorry if this is a silly question)

My experience with vector displacement is that it is actually faster compared to "old school" displacement, that is with biased engines. With unbiased engines i don´t know.
