light creator

I'm actually in the process of lighting an interior scene and it's a kind of a nightmare to do so with maxwell.
The best way i find to have good looking light with less noise is the use of ies file. But the actual implementation is really limited.
Firstly, a multiplier for this kind of light would be a minimum.
Secondly, to be able to scale this light for placing this the way i would like.
But the top feature that i think for now would be a kind of procedural ies creator inside maxwell that would give the possibility to modulate a light the way i would like to reach. I think of the the possibility in maxwell to place a simple light like what we find in classical 3d soft (omi, spot), but something on steroid that even give possibility of dissymmetrical light, just by "drawing" the look of light in a ies file. I hope to by understandable enough.
And don't tell me to model the reflector of the light i would like, it's juste craziness and unproductive in most case.
Thanks.

Try this IES Creator application:

For the other limitations, the thing is an IES is supposed to be a measured light - size and strength wise. It's sort of like the IOR files but for lights. But you can always adjust its intensity with ML. In the future maybe we'll have a separate multiplier parameter when using IES files, that multiplies the internal strength value of the IES.

oh yesss.... nice find.
Tested and approuved... thanks...
It juste have to be incorporated in studio ;-)
And yes a multiplier parameter would be a must for ies.

yeah, that multiplier would be great.
they introduced it to hdr-emitters some time ago and I have been using it quite often now. otherwise you have to rely on multilight which is not suitable for any case.
