Multiple Document Interface In Studio

An MDI will allow the user to have several scenes open at once. You should be able to copy/paste and drag/drop items between the various scenes.
Yes, that could be very useful... However, I think there is a lot to do before that... for example how to place the item... snap to point, to surface etc... If not, it will always be better to use your 3d app...
That said, I want to remind you that studio is basically an interface for maxwell renderer... NL always tries to focus on that instead of modeling and object handling tools...
