I agree. In general the functionality of the materials editor is very poor with Maxwell materials.
We are a long way behind vRay in the interactivity of Maxwell materials within the 3dsMax materials editor.
This is one thing which is definitely missing - ie. to be able to copy and paste elements from one material into another.

This would be an excellent feature. I try this occasionally as I can never quite remember if it works. You can do this within Maxwell studio I think so I'm always trying to do it in between editors.
One thing I'll say for Maxwell over Vray is that a separate material editor is fantastic to have rather than dealing with 3ds Max whenever you want to tweak materials. However, I would agree somewhat that it seems more flaky within 3ds Max. The reference material option is great for example, but then the textures don't show up in the viewport. But now I'm getting off track.
