Network Render: Save Preferences

This mostly has to do with Low CPU priority for me, which is highly recommended in the manual and seems to work just great. It's a minor inconvenience at worst if I forget to check the box, but it seems to me that it should be checked by default, if you've checked it in the past.

I suspect it's off by default for those folks using a dedicated farm? I don't know what percentage of people are able to do that, but there are a number of us who are using other workstations, or in my case a server as the 'farm' who would just assume Low CPU priority always be on.

Brodie,

Agree completely.

Would also be nice to set the priority per node and have that remembered so networked render boxes could run on high and workstations on low.

You can define it here in the node prefs of each computer:

I think setting it here will override what is set in the network wizard.

Good to know bub, I've always wondered what that means. I think the word "flag" was throwing me off.

Glancing through the manual, it looks like NL uses "flag" to refer to the little command line commands you can type in (i've never found a reason to use those so the terminology escaped me). So presumably, it's adding a low priority ( -p low) 'flag' to any incoming render.

So, the wish remains, and I'd like them to work on their phrasing in that preferences window (something like "Always force priority level to... Low/Normal"). But this is a great little way to avoid issues in the meantime.
