Virtual Weaving

This is kind of a far-out idea, and it may not be feasible but I thought the idea was cool so I should at least throw it out there for minds smarter than mine to look into.

What I would like is a "thread count" option in the Maxwell material interface -- the idea being that the material we create is actually describing a thread when this option is activated and Maxwell will virtually "weave" a cloth at any density from our designed thread.

Corel Painter has had a virtual loom for years called "Weaves" and I'm basically thinking of a Maxwell version of this. It would certainly make doing things like curtains, tablecloths, upholstery, sails, umbrellas, tarps, and of course regular cloths much more realistic.

Best,
Jason.

It looks like Lux render beat Maxwell to this suggestion: http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopi ... =10&t=9149

That is of course if anybody was taking this suggestion serious here in the first place...

Best,
Jason.
