"Volumetric" rendering... a bit of a holodeck wish, I know..

Hi all!

Would it be conceivable to do what I would call "volumetric rendering", whereby, similar to multilight, the scene light data gets stored volumetrically, thus allowing to pan/zoom/look around in a final render?

The information is there, it just needs to be calculated and represented in a (very large) data cube... not impossible!

Just playing...
