automatic displacement LOD

i kindly wish for a way to automatically/dynamically set the displacement precision for a certain point on a mesh based on it's distance to camera.

because i want to displace everything. :mrgreen:

That's a funcky idea! So you are suggesting displacement would occur in the foreground and diminish beyond?

Wow! I love that idea -- but I wonder if it isn't already that way to a certain extent...

Also useful (to me at least) would be the ability to see what number using "adaptive" results in directly... instead of having to guess where that number might be for that particular map. Although I've often wondered if the adaptive number isn't related to the density of the mesh the texture is to be applied to, meaning:

1 poly plane results in adaptive 120
4 poly plane results in adaptive 30

Maybe?
