reflection/refraction output layers

has noone wished for reflection/refraction output before .. ?

i just did a search on this render layers, but could not find anything.

* * *

well, it'd be great to have a photoshop-layered .psd output with differentiated layers for RGB, shadow, (GI), reflection, refraction, and so on ..

also per-selection object ID as a full-frame greyscale pass. those color-maps are a little messy to work with, especially when noisy --> bleeding relationships that cannot be corrected!

people doing interiors just need the reflections separate for compositing them on top of some exterior background ..

or am i missing something ?

:roll:

Yes, I want/need this as well.
As far as I can remember though someone from NL said this couldn't be done by the way maxwell works?

Thinking about it now, it must be possible since there is a reflection refraction tab for the renderings to enable it just like caustics.

Any way, i DO need this as well :)

It has been requested in the past...agree, would like the option as well.

ey there ..

well, the way cinema 4d's AR exports those layers for example, the reflection pass is treated as a «linear dodge» layer (linear abwedeln oder so was in german) in PS, meaning that information is just added to the stuff below.

so since a+b = b+a, the stuff that is *behind* the glass can be added on top of the reflection .. certainly useful, but it'd be nice to have them as individual layers...

OR .. you could render twice, once with reflection/refraction layer on and once without, then in PS subtract the results... :D :D :D

* * *

but i guess the graphics industry knows about the advantages of having individual layers for compositing reasons.. see renderman .. :?

+1, this is a must for compositing.
