Image Hosting

I think that this forum is extremely beneficial to Maxwell users.

All of the helpful users who take their time to post answers on this forum usually host their images on imageshack or photobucket. But after some time they usually take their images off of the site to make way for new images.

I think that if Maxwell had some kind of dedicated image hosting site for the users of this forum it would help everyone who wanted to look back through old posts to find instructions and tips.

Since I started learning Maxwell I have discovered that a LOT of information is not covered in the manual. I have learned way more about how to actually use Maxwell from this forum than from the Manual and would expect that this is the case for most users.

If you are new to CG just try to find detailed step by step instructions on how to implement displacement in the Maxwell manual.... good luck because I can't find it. :).

I have started archiving posts that are helpful but it is hard to keep on top of every helpful post- there are lots of posts that I would like to read in the archives but all of the images have been taken down.

Just a thought but I think it would be great if it could be implemented

+1!

It's totally frustrating to be reading a great (old) post about how to properly use some maxwell feature... and then you scroll down to the images and they're not there. because imageshack or whoever got tired of hosting them. :(

tangentially related: I also really wish NL would officially host some wiki pages for all of the many many questions and answers that occur over and over on the forums.

Yeah, also with Imageshack being so slow and Metoric (our all time favourite) gone, there aren't many really fast image hosts. The bandwidth would be negligible if NL restricted referrers to their own forum.

That would be really great. www.picoodle.com is fast and reliable, but I'm not sure if my pictures still will be there in 2 years?

+1 also!

I often find myself researching techniques that have been discussed ages ago.
In 1 out of 2 or maybe 3 cases there will be a wonderfull tutorial but no images explaining anymore.

+1 to image hosting! I have found many examples in the forums killed by missing images. :'(

Wiki pages are a great idea as well! :)

just enabling attachements here in that phpBB-forum would be great! then you could easily upload your images here or even a scene file if help is needed ...

Yes Please!!!

I look at my favourite home page PushPullBar.com.

It is a privately hosted non commercial site and it supports it's own image hosting though limited to 700x700 200kb images or 2mb zip files.

There years old threads can be perused without lost links! In fact linking of images from other hosts is frowned upon, and again its private and non commersial and certainly hosts more image posts that the maxwell forums!
