loading r2 files was alright at first.. it was just nice to get a way to control the fresnel falloff.. and I use r2 files in many of the shaders i work with.. but the workflow for using em is becoming a hidurance.

But now with the advancment of maxwell beyond 1.5 I wanna see a quicker way to control this effect w/o the pain of having to creat a txt file and having to load it .. Id want a way to control what the r2 file does in a convienent right there in the mat editor gui fashion... maybe with a gradient or something to help visulaise what the falloff will look like based on the ref 0 and 90 colors...

I know back a while before NL said that r2 files where only temporary and they would get replaced soon.. well its been a few version upgrades.. could they please replace the cluncky r2 load text file process wiht something more intuitive/quick..

Yes! I don't even use them because I don't know what they do... Haven't even messed with them yet. If someone wants to explain it for me that would be cool.

r2's .. and esp the concept of control the fresnel falloff angle is a q mighty powerfulgift.
And a good explination is to check out TOM's Tutorial on velvet/satin and read the replys to questions by users in that thread:

Fry does this nicely.

What fry doesn't have is the ability to load any type of material data (ior, r2 type files) for example. I like the ability to load special IOR files, although I really only use the one for aluminum.

I never ever make an r2 file, but i'll load one of the pre-existing 2 value ones to make fabrics every now and then. Since its only simple two value r2 files that I use, having sliders would make sense.
