All image formats for background image.

Yes it's already possible.
Process:-
Open MXCL.
Load background image you want to use via the file menu.
Adjust settings to match the camera settings you will be using at render.
Save as MXI via the file menu.
Go back to MXST or 3D application and load new MXI as background image.
Turn on screen mapping.

Thank you so much, i should have discovered it by myself but evidently i am too lazy...and beeing so i would still find useful to be able to load a generic image directly from the background image dialog without having to create another file. But this helps me a lot, anyway...what i was doing until now was to create a fake .hdr from photoshop, and as you will understand eaily the resulting image was not so good
