XSI 6 plugin

I know this has been posted before, many times (many times by me!) but I thought I'd resurface it again after the release of XSI 6. The integration of 3rd party renderers is meant to be easier in this version but I'm no programmer!

There are a few things that have really got me annoyed about the lack of a plugin for this superb application (apart for the fact that we were promised it 2 year ago and haven't seen anything yet!)

1. The excellent plugin tutorials for Solidwork - they get easy to use tutorials, we haven't even got a plugin yet!

2. DrMerman's brilliant script for using procedural textures in Maya - again, they have procedurals, we don't even have a plugin!

3. indigo renderer's plugin for XSI. indigo is a free non-biased renderer and they've written a beta plugin for XSI. It's buggy but it works! Come on nextlimit even the open source guys are beating you at your own game!

I was promised (before I bought Maxwell, of course) a plugin for XSI would be ready before the end of 2005!!! Please can we have confirmation from someone at nextlimit about whether they are actually going to follow through on this promise? Although there is a route open to us XSI users (via obj and studio) after having seen the Solidworks plugin we really need a simpler way make use of Maxwell's powerful capabilities from within XSI.

I've tried pleading, I've tried reasoning - come on nextlimit, we need to be kept in the loop (or I'll have to send the boys round!!)

Hey Oz,

We have the XSI plug-in scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2007.

I know it won't help or matter much, but still: again, apologies for the delay in the release of this plug-in.

Thanks!

Nicole

nicole,

that's music to my ears, thanks.

I can't wait!...

Does this mean that the XSI plugin will be for use with release 1.2 of Maxwell?

Hi Oz,

The XSi plug-in won't be included with the release of 1.2 I'm afraid. However, it will be ready shortly after that.

Cheers,

Nicole

Could be that the pushed ahead releasedate of 1.2 is partly due to the fact that the XSI plugin was not yet fully finished and tested. That's my guess.. but as always i could be completly wrong :D

1. Thank you!

2. Um, are there instructions anywhere?

3. When you get a chance, a new subforum would be great.
