Automated "Image to .mxi"-convertion

I just dont understand why we have to open an image in the renderer and
convert images to .mxi. It makes no sence.
Please make that as an automatic future.
When asigning an image to an emitter, we could simply change, ISO,
Shutter, Burn and Gamma settings right there, in the material editor
(Standalone and plugins), and when hitting render, that .mxi could be
created in the background, and deleted after being used to free up space.
As it is now, I cannot (read: dont have time and/or free space to
convert 500 images to .mxi, by hand) use an imagesequence as
lightsource in my animations.
Please, NL, please.
