Scale customizability

I noticed there is a standard scaling format that can't be changed in Maxwell, in such a way that it can in Maya. As an example, I set the scaling in Maya to inches, so I create a wall 8 feet by 8 feet, or 96 inches by 96 inches. Since I export the model as an OBJ, those units are lost and just treated as units and not inches. I bring it into Maxwell, and apparently it is 96 metres by 98 metres. I would like to have the capacity of changing the unit scales from the default into various units of measurement, so I don't have to keep scaling scenes down in order to accommodate Maxwells units.
