WISH - Texture random offset

A quick wish as I think of it - it would be wonderful to have a setting when loading a texture jpg to be able to specify random offsets. I'm working with wood, and its a pain to make sure that every piece of wood doesn't look identical and that each texture isn't placed in exactely the same way. I would love to have a rather large real scale texture that gets applied with random offsets so only occasionaly would you spot the same wood features.

It would make things a lot more realistic with a lot less work!

Anyhow seconders to this wish?

Though I generally support the idea, this should be properly done by
manipulating the UV-coordinates of the object.

As such, it's rather a task for the host application than for MX studio or even
the MX Renderer IMO.

Kabe,

I see your point, but I'm not sure I agree. I believe such a feature would/should apply to any object a texture gets applied to. For example I would expect that the texture gets applied randomly to cylindrical projections, planar projects, UV projections, etc. I believe this feature increases the potential of the textures to be more realistic, and so should occur when the texture gets dropped onto any projector. (As opposed to trying to fudge the UV coordinates of the mappings to get the same effect...) I guess ultimately it is a subtle difference, but since the material and its texture are so tied together, I feel that one should not make assumptions about the texture at the model end, only at the render end. I wonder if i'm making any sense! :)
