Updating Geometry

This has probably been covered already somewhere on this forum, but it's so long, I don't want to look through all the pages (I did look through several, at least!). The ability to somehow update the geometry that is already stored in an MXS file would be, in a word, wonderful. I can reimport the original object...but this doesn't work very well, as the export from (in my case) Lightwave takes care of niggling things like triangulating objects, etc.
I know that I CAN, if I only use the plugin. However, I have come to realize that the plugin is EXTREMELY limited in its abilities, and have switched to slapping the objects into Layout, and exporting to MXS.
I also tried copying an object from another MXM (I haven't used Studio a lot, yet), and found out you can't. This is not that big a surprise, since you can't in Lightwave (at least, I've never been able to), but since Studio doesn't have its own modeling tools...it would be a nice feature.

I understand what you mean, and agree.
One solution could be this:
http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hp?t=18963
But in the mean time, you could do the following:
Divide your project into logical parts.
Work in your favorite software and export each part separately into an MXS file.
To render, use Studio, and import the logical parts in mxs format into the main MXS file where you have all the rendering settings.
In this way, if one of the logical parts needs an update, you perform the update in your favorite software, and export the MXS file again.
Then in Studio, open the Main MXS file, and reimport the updated MXS file. Studio will recognize the file and will give you the option to replace or not, to keep the materials and projectors or not etc.

The bad new about this system, is that you have everything ina single file, that could be corrupted somehow.
It happened to me that after two updates of the same object, it was not possible to update it anymore. It was not possible to erase it too!
Each time i tried to update or erase it , Studio crashed.
