Ability to export to the New FBX format

I have read that Autodesk have just developped a new advanced 3d format to be used as interchange between their new set of products, as Autocad 2007, Maya 8, 3DMax 9 etc. This new format was claimed to be free for public use. Autodesk FBX, a free 3D file exchange format
If this is real, It would be a great thing if we could export from Maxwell Studio to such a format!
I feel claustrophobic working in a dead end format as MXS!!!
