mxm Layer Blending Options

Maybe this is because my mxm creation skills are still quite low, and maybe I missed something on the way. But from what I understand there is a limitation in the existing Layer Blending Options.
For some surfaces I would like another Layer Blending Mode apart from A (additional) and N (normal). Probably T for topological: to have the Layers calculated in their topological order according to specified thickness values (like Coatings today).
This would be useful for all kinds of things, multilayer paint, mutlilayer glass, multi coated surfaces..
..which otherwise require layer by layer modeling to get correct results or endless tweaking with A or N Layer Blending. Of course I have no idea how that blending stuff works, nor what coding orgy it is. However it would be nice to have that third option.
