I think this is not mandatory since maxwell is a multiplatform and standalone engine.
PJP, think of this:
If you make it for 3dsmax, you have to make it for all other hosts and then there will be
thousands of different interfaces adn incompability problems etc.
A good software always must be as modular as it can.

answering to questions posted here is just a matter of instict for tom, he doesn't remember any answer he gave once posted. besides tom is not one, they are many. and they all bounce here and there.
