Relative and cross-plattform texture paths in materials

A material must reference it's textures with relative and platform
independent paths. Otherwise it's practically bound to the machine it was
created, which is a certified bad thing.

This should have been a *basic* consideration when building this stuff.
As it is now you can't use it for production.

my vote for it too !

 there is a [-bitmaps:path | -b] option in mxcl.exe . don't know if that helps . i would like to have textures written into the mxm files ...

does variable mapping work?

for instance can we set $FOO = "C:\TexturePath"

and then call $FOO\texturename.jpg

I second that.

and/or, as I already said somewhere else here, a resource recollector (as in 3dmax) to archive all the textures of the scene in a .zip and bring 'em with the scene...
