UVW Unwrap

I always get problems when I try to include 3D people into my scene, because of the UVW coordinates, mostly they are already mapped in the 3d modelling software and mapped with the unwrap utility. When I then try to render in maxwell there is always a error massage:
UVW channels blah blah on object blah blah not enough for material blah blah
This would be nice, if it would work!
