HI,

I think it would be a nice feature if the illumination data offered by some producers in a .ies file could be applied to maxwell emitters giving them right from the beginning the light output which the original produkt would have, very often you will find ready to use files for lightscape or 3d studio viz, if Maxwell was able to read those it would safe a lot of work and would be just perfect.
Ok, I have to admit that this is interesting above all for those interested in lighting analysis and the reproduction of existing light sources, I would very mutch appreciate the feature though.

so just keep it moving and best wishes,

lichtwerk

Final Render Stage 1 uses IES light data, I've used it on several projects and it does work well.

Hello Ernest,

the following Autodesk products use .IES-data:

Architectural Desktop / VIZ-Render 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007

Autodesk VIZ 2006...2007 (scanline/radiosity and mental ray)

3ds Studio Max 6 / 7 / 8 (scanline/radiosity and mental ray)

AutoCAD 2007 (within mental ray)

Regards,

Roman
