Switching versions.....

I know this has been mentioned before, but I'd like to reiterate:

It would be really, really, really nice if the next release were a separate installation, so we would have the capability to be able to switch between Beta, RC5, and the imminent (hopefully) RC6 versions. I personally gave up on RC5 and switched back to Beta because of workflow issues. However, there have been times when I wanted to try something out with RC5 but really didn't want to go through the hassle of unistalls, reinstalls, changing paths, etc.

I think I'm not the only one that would really like to see this capability.

Mike,

You can do this now.

Install beta and then go to Program Files and rename the Maxwell folder into "Maxwell - beta " (or something).

Then install RC5 . (Now you will have a new "Maxwell" folder)

Now, if you want to use beta again, rename the current Maxwell folder into "Maxwell - RC5" and change the "Maxwell - beta" into Maxwell.

You can be switching back and forth like this by simply renaming the folders. It is not pretty, but it works.

This is true. But there is also the matter of having to recopy the plugin as well (I'm using 3ds Max). I was thinking more along the lines of simply being able to select whichever version from the drop-down list of available renderers.

I'm lazy... I like things to be as simple as possible.
