I'm not sure this is even possible or maybe it's better to apply in post afterwards but as Maxwell pushes further into realism then it could have the typical photographic filters you can buy for any SLR. And then you can achieve the typical effects those filters gives you directly upon the rendering of your scene. I think it would be neat feature to have 
Maybe also in the standalone version the ability to define your own filters for the lens you use for your camera would be a good option to have..
Oh and btw.. it'd be nice to have that as Tom suggested/hinted in another thread that you can do manual exposure with the Maxwell camera to achieve looong interesting renderings and other neat realistic camera effects and tricks
