Nearly 400 years after the last class was described, researchers claim that they may have now invented a new, fourth class, which they call Goldberg polyhedra.
Invented? I think discovered is a more fitting word.

Mathematics is an invented system, so "invented" does in fact fit better.

The system of symbols is invented but surely the truth of the underlying relationships exists outside of human consciousness. Maybe my definitions of "Truth" & "Math" need to be re-evaluated but I've always found this topic fascinating :-)
