My Surface 2 Pro tablet (i7-4300U) is now theoretically faster, by Geekbench standards, than the workstations I used between 2005 and 2009 (AMD 3500+ and Intel Q6600) to render my entire Maxwell gallery.

As a matter of fact my 2005 AMD 3500 desktop would be now three times slower than an Xperia Z1 phone.

Pretty astounding bit of perspective there...

When I was recently shopping for mobile phones I was reading the specs on my current model and did a double-take when I read "quad-core processor". Still not used to these kinds of specs on phones.

Many now contain dual quad core chips! It's pretty mind blowing
