FemtoPhotography; imaging at the speed of light!

A great TED lecture on super, super, super high speed photography (1,000,000,000,000 frames a second :shock: );

http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&feat ... oHeWgLvlXI

At first I didn't understand how they were recording images of light as it would take time for that light to hit the camera sensor but then explains they take millions of images and synchronise them!

There's an interesting image of ripples at the end where they're recording the image so fast the direction of light travel seems to be reversed (i.e. they're seem to be recording faster than the speed of light!)

It's like watching a renderer in the real world.

You're right, I hadn't thought of it like that but basically it's slowing real life down to Maxwell's speed!!
