i had to redo our website as it was in flash and we had quite a few visitors (according to google analytics) trying to access it with an ipad.

i was really not looking forward to redo the whole thing in dreamweaver. so i tested out adobe muse. it's very simple to use and i don't care if the code is not up to purists standards. took me an evening to redo the website. http://www.yolk.org

took out all the rollover effects as on ios devices you have to click twice on a button if it has rollover states. other than that it's quite nice. too sad it does not come in a boxed version - subscription only :(

If you don't like Software-Subscriptions - my personal recommendation is Xara.
The program looks maybe not quite as slick as Muse. But it allows for much more Freedom, is super straightforward too and very reasonably priced.

They have quite a bunch of differently named apps which all use the same base program.
More expensive versions just give access to more features. The product which should interest
you has the stupid name Web Designer MX Premium. The latest release is less than a month old
and should give you more than Muse is able to do.

If you can wait for another month and would find native file-format exchange with Adobe crucial
(psd's/ai)... then you might consider the successor of their most expensive product which
currently is called Designer 7. It should be out in June or so and has all Vector/Bitmap/DTP/Web-Features
included, but it costs considerably more.

Xara is somewhat an odd program and I've not yet seen a program with an older Userbase, most
of them seem to have started using the program right from the beginning when the Vector Engine
was written in Assembler Code. It seems to be prerequesite to be 70 and retired to be a respected
member in the Xara forums :)
But after testing surely a dozen of Wysiwyg-Editors Xara was the winner for me.
Only Muse came somewhat near and has a more attractive GUI but I won't subscibe to Software.

At the bottom of this page there's btw. some words on the IOS thing in their newest release.
The way I understand this is that they found a method which allows rollover-states for normal browsing and switches
this off for Ipads and the like. Again, don't feel turned off by the shitty sample-graphics and templates shipping with
the program and also being used in the review.
