So Brian, does this also mean that you think it sucks as well?

+1 that is why I am still on autocad LT 2004
if someone looking for free CAD there is draftsight , just like acad but for free .
I am thinking of archicad to improve my workflow.
I thought is is similiar to revit and allplan (german one) but much better.

I hate it because I get Revit models that I have to clean up in Max before rendering. Every curved surface has triangulation and smoothing problems. Then there are the coplanar faces, extra vertices, unwelded vertices, etc. etc.... Oh and they also want me to keep a live link via FBX in case the design changes. Fun!

I hate all sort of BIM software!, my experience after having tested lots of them(Revit, Archicad, Vectorworks) is that the concept is nice but the reality is quite different. If you want to design in 3D use a good 3d app and use a 2d app for the drafting.

true story
we always remodel all buildings in max instead of fixing crappy BIM useless meshes.
once I worked with sketchup model with funny wireframed overlay mesh on real one , painfull it was.
after I done job I get information it was easy to fix when exporting from ketchup 3d

Don't try to cut a piece of wood with a hummer, use the right tool for the task. If you want to do a nice presentation use a 3d modeling software, but if you want a nice set of plans and construction documents don't use 3dsmax or Rhino or any other 3d software. I don't hate my car because it can't fly.

Haha, thanks Tom!, I feel better now knowing that I'm not alone. I quoted this from the topic:
....The definition of insanity is the repeating of the action over and over again, expecting different results - the architecture and design world seem to have developed a case of masochistic insanity, continuing to rely on this ridiculous software package and expecting worthwhile results, while mashing their teeth and yanking out their hair; utilizing the wretched program as if their lives depend on it, and as if it has become the sole drafting package of our age.
Wake up, Autodesk: the world hates Revit

Not too long ago we were making drawings on a drafting board with a T-rules and pencil. Later we replace the drafting board with an electronic version of it. Now that we finally have some intellegence on an architectural program people complain about that, I just don't get!!! I am pretty sure Revit is not perfect and have a lot of problems but I am convinced that it is a step on the right direction. Let the program evolve an get more sofistication what else is in the market?
Archicad?, Bently? Rhino? come on!

Wow! Gehry technology that program was design to do the crazy things that Frank Gehry does. That was based on CATIA a mechanical design program to do automobiles, is I am not wrong. Is that the type of architecture you do every day? I wonder how many architects are doing that?

I'm sure it's great for what it was designed for... CAD. I'm complaining about trying to use Revshit models for visualization purposes. As stated here in my previous post:
