I am curious about why you'd want that...? I mean in PS or 3DCoat or Zbrush or Mubox or MAri.. it's so easy and there you have full control and even special tools.., and can work with photos maps of dirt, so at the end it will be ALWAYS better...

sure, if you have the time to unwrap the whole model and carefully paint individual textures for each face that would be always better...
But it's about large architectural models with much geometry and no time for special things like that.
And you would end up with very huge maps if you don't do it procedural.

(And i think you can use photo maps that will be blended over the tiled textures.)

well if you use Ptex in 3Dcoat, no need to unwrap, and no stretching whatsoever ..

as for painting you can just fill the object with more in cavity and a nice noise procedural , and it will do it in no time.. but well sure it requires always a little work..

well if a tool like RichDirt can help you, you have to develop a special Maxwell plugin for that.. not sure the co. you mention will do it.. have you asked them...?

that was the reason for posting it here...

They run a survey where they ask for which apps you would like to see RichDirt. And Maxwell seems to be an option, as i understood.
I don't know how they will do it, but it seems they think that it is possible...

a maxwell dirt material would be better for sure (like v-ray dirt) - but it looks like this is no option atm.

More Maxwell support is always a better thing as it give the users more options -- so I'm onboard.

Best,
Jason.

nice!
yes, it would be really good, if there would be plug-ins like Multiscatter or Forest Pack Pro with full Maxwell (material) support.

I'd kill for Multiscatter support. At work it has become a pivotal tool for nearly all projects (not only archviz).
