It's unbelievable... and very shocking indeed, like they are playing a video game, first person shooter......

Plain horrible.
What also makes me mad is the cynical euphemism in the language used.
"Shall we engage?" (= open fire)
"That a negative on the evac..." (= we can't give bring these wounded children to hospital).

It's hard to depart farther from reality with words

"Well it's their fault for bringing their kids into a battle. That's right."

...a sentence to be proud of

It's easy to judge from the safety of your computer desks, after watching an obviously biased and slanted video.
Here are the facts after watching the video without taking into consideration the slanted comments and screen overlays of the presenter:
There was a large group of men in a war zone, some armed with AK47's, at least one with an RPG (capable of downing a helicopter). The man with the RPG was tracking the helicopter, even hiding behind a wall and peeking around the corner. The helicopter got permission to fire.

Journalists must know the dangers of being on a battlefield near a group of armed men with a US military helicopter circling in the sky.

Regardless of all the bullshit anti-war sentiments, I think the US should get the fuck out of there. Let these animals go back to killing each other instead of killing our kids. They've been fighting since the dawn of time, who do we think we are to try to establish a civilized government and society for them. Let them go back to being ruled by the dictator with the most guns.

Yes, it's a personal choice... I prefer to be behind my computer desk.

...completely agree here

Listen, Stinky. I'm calling the armed thugs who terrorize the people of their own country animals. It has nothing to do with race. Humans know right from wrong and can choose to act accordingly. Animals do not seem to have that capability. Any good person (political leader or civilian) over there who stands up for what's right quickly gets shot down by these thugs. They are animals.

From what I understand, nearly 90% of all significant attacks executed by the insurgents target either coalition forces, Iraqi security forces, and people who the insurgents consider collaborators (which does NOT mean there aren't a lot of civilian victims). This isn't just people fighting amongst themselves, nor mere ethnic/religious conflict - it's a widespread, heterogenic insurgency against an occupying force. Which, by the way, hasn't been raging since "the dawn of time" - it started after the US invaded Iraq.

Yes, who will be the victims when we leave? Peace will return to the region, I'm sure.

Brian .. Sometimes silence is golden.

Try and expand your understanding of what has happened over there..
Number one, ... we shouldn't be there. Number two, .. dictator with big guns or not, ..we upset the stability of that nation.

Now, .. here's an out of date chart below. From here: http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RS22537.pdf

I'm not saying that collateral damage isn't a part of war, ..I'm pretty sure most people understand that, but digest the numbers ... and then say, .. who's killing who's kids ? And let me be an ultra jerk and ask, .. and who's kids would Nature / (insert your God here) prefer for death ? Just curious, .. you know, .. so I can root for the right side.

And let's be really crazy and say that there's a video on YTube for all of those numbers shown below, ..just like the one in this thread ... How do you think that would change the general perception of Americans on warfare? Its like forget buying cleanly cut meat in engineered styrofoam packages at a grocery store, .. F-that , ...let's go on down and cut the throat of a damn cow ourselves. Plunge a knife around and pull out some super fresh tenderloin. Hungry ? Let's see truth for once. But we don't do that, ..just like at the grocery store, .. they 'spare' us what they think we can't handle --- they give us cut, prepared and sanitized video clips. By the way, .. for the most part, .. we can't handle it or we would of done something about it long ago.

People don't like the truth because it corners them. Leaves you with nowhere to go and nothing left to do but look in the mirror and discover that maybe I / you / us / them are not so good, ... that we just buy into our own self-made perceptions and veneers of being average, good and decent people. On any side you pick, ..everyone thinks that. The difference between you and me is that I realize that in so so many ways, ... when we duck the truth, .. we become monsters, ..not the Charlie Manson variety, .. just passive ones, but monsters nonetheless.

I'm not saying how you need to feel, ..but if you see the truth, ..the real truth, .. then there will be no question that you should feel nothing less than divided inside. Divided between supporting our troops and sponsoring the death of many. It isn't so damn cut and dry like so much of the population and media would have us believe.
