No that's not After Effects 5 as far as i know, it's from a older researchpaper and videos. I can remember watching and reading them a couple of years ago (2 maybe).

Now, for the bonus round... that video remind me of another video... one where they would mark something like "the opera house in sydney" or a red truck and they were able to cut it and put it somewhere else
