COLIMO stands for Color & Light Modulator, and it's a real time post-production tool that allows change materials over pre-rendered images, taking in account physical accurate reflections, refractions and GI bleeding.
For better understanding of what COLIMO does, you can see the next videos:

It's not for mental ray, but you need mental ray to launch some separated passes for UVs and other stuff. In the workflow videos you can see the process with some render engines (not mental). In the automatic workflow video, you can see the render process uncut using vray as engine, with information about each pass. The mental ray passes are the colorful ones (shader passes).
d7mcfc: you can use with maxwell, but with version 2 you must launch the renders by hand, no automated process yet

Is this the same as the SOAP application? I guess this was formerly called "SOAP", and the fryrender guys were very angried because they said it was a rip-off of their "SWAP" application, made by fryrender customers .

Renato, SWAP is a RandomControl application. I wouldn't call it "anger" - just irritation that it would be advertised on their forum as a free alternative to one of their products. Not a rip-off. Nobody stole anything nor was there any insinuation that they did.

Thanks for your comments.
Renato Lemus: SOAP still exists as free application, but has more limitations than COLIMO (can't change textures). As Frances said, it's similar to SWAP, but it's based in different technique with different limitations: in SWAP (at this time) the textures don't affect properly the GI or reflections (uses something like a "median" color from the texture) and can't deal with refractions (objects behind glass); and in COLIMO (at this time) you can't change the amount of reflection or glossiness.
