I can confirm that this kit rocks, not only because it's based on my early work started a year ago for Maxwell
http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... hotostudio but also because it's both accurate and built to scale and rigged to work like real studioprops using Modo's builtin riggingtools in 401. And i have also been a part of the betatesting team on this kit. If you're a Modo user, this is a really powerful addition to Modo. I have yet to test it with Maxwell 2.0 and see how it works, but if there will be a updated Modo plugin released soon then i will testrun it and see how well they work together. Hopefully they do.

I'm not too familiar how the Modo-Maxwell bridge works.
But I do remember hearing about replacement mats.
Thinking about this in context with Modo 2.0 also being able to use the SSS in the screens of the Boxes and the Umbrellas gives me all sorts of great ideas.
First thing that comes to mind: if these replacement mats work like I guess they do it would be amazing to test your lighting in preview using modos renderer, then activate the replacement mat to make it a propper mxm mat and render in MW 2.0.
Just think about the time you'll be able to save previewing reflections, Light fall offs Gobo Light fixtures and the list goes on.
I've not played with the modo plugin as for yet, but this is pretty awesome!
Yazon from 9b did a great job at utilizing the rigging abilities, constraints and Hull sliders in the UI.
In case my theories about modo with mw are off track, I will very hapily join the I want this for maxwell team

Max I think you did great research work that lead up to this package, well done!!!

This is something Maxwell should already have included in all versions.
Why do we all have to reinvent the best studiosettings?
No one wants to share his/her perfect settings in Maxwell.
To make the Maxwell Render the best and biggest of all renderers NL really has to think about this.
Maxwell render has to be not only a (good) renderer but also The complete studio with all kinds of (studio) presets, all kinds of interior- and exterior presets, etc.
It's not only the quality of the Maxwell renders that makes NL big but also the quantity of beautifull photorealistic renderings spreading all over the internet that can make NL the biggest of all!

Joris: Depending on how the Modo plugin develops then this kit might work with Maxwell, there's a few things they have to fix to make it work and they are no big issues. Meanwhile there is a semi-solution to make use of these props with Maxwell and that is to setup your shot in Modo with it's renderer and then when you're ready you simply render out a hdr via the kit and use that hdr to light your scene with Maxell. It should render fast and at a very good quality with Maxwell.

Yea Yazan has done a impressive job on this, that guy is crazyskilled.
I can't take any credit but thanks anyways Joris
Fred: Yep Maxwell should had this 6-12 months ago and i offered my kit to NL but they were not interested at that time

so no deal, which is why i eventually moved over with it to Luxology and Yazan as they were interested in this and thought it would help bring Modo to a whole new level. It saddens me there would be no kit like this for Maxwell, it's missing out on something now.

I don't know the details of NL and Maximus' dealings, but I don't think there's anything stopping anyone from selling or giving away any Maxwell optimized props. Why does NL have to be involved? Just do it. If they work well, and there is a demand for them... well?
The problem I can see with these kinds of props, is the fact that they are almost always behind the camera and not in the scene. And since Maxwell works best with simple emitters, well, personally I don't think the added complexity of the lighting would justify longer render times/added geometry. And I think maybe any of these lighting rigs could be simulated with a good mxi/hdr based emitter. HDR's made from those emitters would be very cool though. If I had those props, I'd render out an hdr image of each of those light setups (straight at the camera) for use as an hdr emitter applied to a plane.

Well said Brian.. for the people that want this kind of lighting.. I'd recommand this..
http://hdristudio.com/
....the best.. and you can crop part of it.. and map it to a single poly.. and these are from the real thing.. captured with a spheron cam..
Besides, the only way I would use these props was if they were visible
in the shot like a TV decor or so.. otherwise having them behind the cam does not justify it..
h.
Max. you don't need NL to approve what you do... sorry but I don't get it...

I think you (brain, herve) are both right... but for people just playing from time to time with maxwell/modo, etc. this could be a great learning tool as well.
Too I dont know why NL has to be involved in that business. From a commercial point of view it´s most likely not improving the business (?)
