(Next week, look for the demo...)

Fully GPU Accelerated ...Fully Interactive...Fully Unbiased
Octane Render is the worlds first GPU based, un-biased, physically based renderer. As opposed to the handfull of processor cores available in CPU's, the GPU typically has hundreds of cores for parallel processing making it the best resource for rendering in your computer. Yet, to date no other software makes use of it in the way that Octane does. With even a single mid-range GPU you can typically expect to see a 1000%-1500% (10X to 15X) speed increase over a typical un-biased, CPU based renderer.

very impressive   an average of 5-10 min for an image it's amazing, sometime just few secondes
fully interactive and nice feature : interactive depth of field ....

It has potential. It seems to be very limited right now (and for 1.0 release). I'm keeping my eye on it!

WOW!! If only Maxwell could render that fast...
Sorry had to say it

maxwell will

NL is working on GPU render in this moment.

It's impressive, at a equally impressive price! i wish i had money so i could buy it.

But i doubt Maxwell will go down that road, it's not in line with NL's style to cut corners and make Maxwell render realtime like that. I can't see NL pushing Maxwell in that direction, nope never gonna happen! not in my lifetime..

It has nothing to do with cutting corners. It's all about taking full advantage of available hardware. I think NL's in it for the long haul, so doesn't want to invest too much R&D time towards such a young technology. With Octane, you have to have a certain video card to use it... It's like the beta vs. vhs... or Blueray vs. HD-DVD situation. You don't want to be the company who has invested mucho money in the technology standard that fails. I think Maxwell will go that direction when the technology is more mainstream. That's just my thoughts though.

Seriously??? Can we get more details?
Something tells me it's a bad joke...

Yes but now You have to have at least 8 cores to work with maxwell with any smell of fluency. CG artists always have to invest in hardware, and one GCards with CUDA it,s not so expensive as for example 6 rendernodes, not mentioning this (self-censored) new license policy +6rendernodes $.

It seems like GCard computing is already working, adobe phshop use CUDA, all mainstream renderengines doing something with "realtime" rendering. This is powerfull and cheap as hell.

NL is workin' on this too . but if not . there will be no V3 relase.

NL almost solved all issues with quality of images, seems like only reason that we didn,t flush vray, mental, final etc. into a toilet is speed issue.
If maxwell will work as this octane on youtube film , who would bother anything else ?

I think they get it now ;) but they don,t know how to reedit rendernodes price policy ;)

Question: Do those GPU renderers use ONLY memory on graphic card? It means 2GB maximum at the moment?
