hi all
we just uploaded our beta website:
www.yolk.org
still lots of content is missing and i didn't check irmeli's typos - there are probably tons
but we have a problem:
to make sure download times are short, when you click on a project it loads the specific flash file.
we also added a pre-load counter so when loading the larger sfw files you'll have a % counter
but there's a delay until this counter shows up. you click on a large project, the page goes white for a second and then the pre-load counter starts at 30 or 40%. why does it not pop up immediately and start from 0?
thanks for any tips and hints!

David, it's a great site and a proof of how hard not to read Opel/General Motors as OpenGL Motors

The evolution in design is also amazing... mutating from wee ventilation to diving high heels to an Apple(!) motion cam

we had so many emails from directors of photography furious about the white color of the cam that will reflect in some shots. the next one will be pink

Looks nice.

Maybe, for the heavier pages, you could load one image first with the page text, then as soon as that has loaded, load the rest of the page underneath it. I'm not familiar with flash, but it would be quite easy to do that using javascript.

thanx JD..good idea..will try that. still bizarre it behaves that way as the little counter is only a few kilobytes and the first thing in the scene - so it should display immediately

I agree, the site looks very good and is easy to navigate around. But i had no idea you were running a business like this

it looks.. big! the thing i like the most are the little sketches of the staff, they're great.

great page! on my machine it works very well with the preloader and the page feels quite fast.
didn't you have a lot of PET bottles in your window a few month ago?
