We've just recently launched our second prized competition over at vizdepot.com. It's open and free to anyone that wishes to enter, and there is a great panel of judges as well as prizes for three top images and two honorable mentions.

ANY render engine / software package or workflow is welcome of course.

aren't those things full of bureaucracy? (you have to make x number of posts in the topic threads, and blow a lot of people in the forum, etc) i think if you post a maxwell image @ vizdepot or 3d allusions, you get tomatoes thrown at you..... i think i remember there being a lot of die hard artlantis toolsheds in those forums. but hey, don't listen to me, go for it! :D

Not true about the Viz Depot. A bunch of cool guys over there. Great artists too! (Mostly mental ray guys though, but I won't judge them for that.) I'd give it a Maxwell V2 shot, but damn, no free time. I got 3 kids under 10 years old, people! :D

Not really Rusteberg, you blow who you want to blow, if that's your style. That could go for any forum.

I don't think I have ever seen a single Artlantis rendering posted on vizdepot either. Sounds like you're being quite bitter about something....not sure why.

In fact, your Maxwell comment can be proven wrong by looking at the tutorials section (more maxwell tutorials than most sites) and forums there. People are interested and support the use of other render engines.

Anyway, to each his own and if you wish to join then great! If you don't, then don't. The rules state that it's recommended that you participate in others threads and that this is also meant to be a learning experience for yourself and others while watching your WIP thread. If you're into keeping secrets and not sharing your work flow, then that's your thing. There are no requirements on how many images you post, it's as simple as posting your WIP to get crits and comments on your final images.

You guys should spent more time in front of your computer than making kids. ;)

I would like to participate there too but also got a lot to do. Kid business too. hehe.
The contest seems very nice for a maxwell starter like me.
But the idea I have won't feature the whole scene. More focused on a part of the scene and objects.
There'll be some time until the deadline so maybe I will throw something together.
