AMD Reveals Next Gen Of CPUs

I just ran across this article recently.
What do you think guys - is it really that good compared to i7 ???
The only thing I've noticed so far is it looks like it still works with DDR2 RAMs.

No!...
A Phenom x4 965 overclocked to 3,8GHz is slower than a i7 920! (Scanline 3DSmax)
And now you can start ocing the i7 too...

...and the new D-stepping of i7 is out now! sometimes 3,8-4GHz with stock vcore!

Anyone with an i7 setup concerned at all about chipset temps ? Forget the processor for now ....
At stock speeds, the northbridge on my Gigabyte X58 board is untouchable.
You know most of these x58 boards come with these fancy heat pipe/cooling plate things, yet I think they're not nearly as effective as a simple heatsink and fan ????? I'm prying the damn thing off because it's making me nervous. lol..

that's funny. i was sitting here in the studio yesterday and all of a sudden i smelt something burning... i immediately freaked out and scrambled underneath the desk where i have all my cpu's, sniffing like crazy, removing covers and looking for smoke.... found nothing, went outside to make sure the building wasn't on fire, checked all the outlets, and then i realized my daughter had been playing by the thermostat and had flipped the heat on....... that wasn't cool young mam'!!!

i lost the count of times it happened to me to wander like an huntdog around the desk sniffing at the fans, just to discover the girls downstairs burnt their meal or that the kitchen of the neighbor was burning (both things happened...!)
